Follow the Trail of Wandering Sheep
One felt maker's rambling, what worked, what didn't, what surpised me and what was just hard work.
Egyptian socks

I'm about 3/4 of the way through my first pair of Egyptian socks. They are considerably more time consuming than knitting with self striping sock yarn and I don't work on them all the time. However quite pleasing to work on once you get the hang of the two yarn system. I really need another 16 hour bus trip to get the rest of them done. At this rate I have enough yarn left to make two more pair like this. If you would like to know all the "knitty gritty" details about these socks check out this link to my SCA documentation for them:

Basics:

size 1 needles
about 10 stitches per inch
100% cotton two ply yarn (found after a long search at Pennsic!)
all knit faced stitches, no ribbing on the top
